Project Description

For the past 27 years, the Athens 911 EMA Emergency Call Center has been located in the basement of the Sheriff’s Office. However, due to continuous growth, expansion of services, and advances in technology, the facility could no longer support the infrastructure requirements to successfully transition to the next generation.

To properly accommodate this necessary growth and better serve the Southeastern Ohio Valley region, a new 10,590 SF single-story building with an occupancy load of 105 individuals was constructed on a separate site. Construction consisted of poured insulated concrete forms walls, CMU, steel, and masonry structure. A storm shelter was also included for 105 individuals in addition to one specific area for wheelchair accessibility. The facility now houses Athens County 911, EMA, a joint 911/EMA training facility, and administration offices for both agencies and other supporting functions, making it the second largest 911 call center in the State of Ohio.
