Project Description
This 96,000 sf facility renovation project at the headquarters of Goodwill Columbus included the creation of the Battelle Career Education Center, along with the renovation of other existing first and second floor space on the main campus. A non-profit, Goodwill addresses employment services and rehabilitation needs of individuals with disabilities or other challenges.
Construction within the Battelle Career Education Center included state-of-the-art computer labs, classrooms, conference rooms, restrooms, and staff office space that are all fully accessible to people with disabilities.
The renovation also included two adaptive exercise rooms for use by program participants and employees, an art studio and gallery, work assembly and fulfillment space, multipurpose rooms, and administrative, finance, program, and management offices. Extensive modifications were made to the structure in the Battelle Career Education Center. Design elements include a cement panel rain screen wall system, EPDM roofing, retrofitted skylight systems, glass curtain wall system, painted CMU walls, drywall partitions, new electrical gear, new roof top units, non-slip vinyl flooring, epoxy flooring, and carpet. Exterior ramps contain ice melt systems.
