Project Description

This project involved the construction of a 912-bed living-learning complex comprised of four (4) four-story residential student housing buildings, a learning commons building, significant upgrades to the preexisting utilities and infrastructure, site improvements, and a new parking lot. (North Residential Buildings: 67,922 SF x 2; South ResidentialBuildings: 61,671 SF x 2; Learning Commons: 18,610 SF).

This was the largest student housing construction undertaking in Ohio University’s
history as well as the first time the University had used the State of Ohio CMR delivery

process derived through Ohio Construction Reform legislation. A LEED Silver registered

project.

PROJECT SUCCESSES

  • Saved the University $10.25 million
  • Implementation of a phased approach saved over nine months from the original
    project schedule
  •  Despite 22 days lost due to rain, the project was completed on time
  •  Team employed three OU interns, held numerous education forums and educational
    site tours
  •  Implementation of a phased approach saved over nine months from the original
    project schedule

This was the largest student housing construction undertaking in Ohio University’s history as well as the first time the University had used the State of Ohio CMR delivery process derived through Ohio Construction Reform legislation. A LEED Silver registered project.
