Project Description

An extensive renovation of Building A, a 12,600 SF, fully-sprinklered, metal building, housing truck bays and limited areas of office, storage, meeting rooms, and classrooms. Renovations included the complete replacement of the metal roof and roof insulation along with a small metal-framed addition on the south side of the building for equipment storage. New Rooftop AFU were installed to handle air evacuation within the building and the replacement of all sliding bays door for new 18’ openings. Sitework included paving, extension of a gas line, and extension of a fire water line along a newly constructed road leading back within the campus. Remediation for mold and bird contamination occurred within the building. Construction took place on an actively used training campus for first responders, and continual use of the vehicle bays by owner required emergency egress to be maintained throughout the project.

Project Successes

  • Successfully remediated structural issues on a load bearing wall that would have caused a second floor collapse had it not been discovered.
  • Completed work on a fully operational state fireman training campus while working around existing fireman training.
  • Installed an extension of the road using rolled concrete; a dense, heavier product durable enough to withstand the weight of fully loaded fire trucks.
  • Installed new MEP systems that allow for quick shut-off and control the water flow into the building for training exercises.
