Project Description

A full renovation of the 7th Floor clinical space in the Brain and Spine Hospital at the Wexner Medical Center (WMC). The new program created space for the Surgical Extended Recovery Unit (SERU) and Orthopedics post-surgery beds. The project construction boundaries resided within an operating hospital on the 7th Floor.

Our team successfully completed the project 30 days earlier than the noted substantial completion date. When Elford arrived on site, there was additional work that had not been shown on the criteria drawings, initially causing the substantial completion date to be extended to October 1st. However, with the execution provided by the Elford superintendent and subcontractors on site, our team reached substantial completion by August 30th. Night and weekend work was coordinated to complete the sanitary rough-ins, as this involved going to the floor below and working in occupied spaces. Elford was able to start this work early enough in the project, and coordinate directly with hospital staff to complete and inspect the work, to allow for successor activities to proceed on time. For the duration of construction, our team also maintained a clean environment and managed work in a tight interior space within existing hospital operations.
