Project Description

The OSU Vet Medical Center is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the country and is the only comprehensive referral veterinary hospital in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

This phased project upgraded the existing Veterinary Hospital facility on OSU’s campus into a 21st century space with new clinical spaces, new technologies, and optimization of patient flow. The team planned the overall site, design, and implementation of an addition at the north end of the building and a primary and emergency entrance. The addition houses the primary faculty offices, conference rooms, and administration support spaces for the Veterinary Medical Center.

The available square footage relocated on the ground floor was used to expand the clinical spaces, patient intake/exam rooms, registration, reception, holding, surgery, emergency care, triage, intermediate and intensive care, loading dock, cafeteria, central supply, and pharmacy. The new spaces were designed to be more equipped to treat large farm animals. This project is LEED Silver Certified.

"We are writing this letter of reference based upon our direct experience with Elford over the last 10+ years. We have selected Elford for nearly every significant College of Veterinary Medicine construction project we have initiated during that timeframe and have developed a partnership that transcends the transactional nature of the owner/contractor relationship. Through their technical expertise, attention to detail, and a top-down unwavering commitment, they have earned our trust from pre-construction through project closeout."
