Project Description
The existing Greensview Elementary School was built in the 1960s with a small wing added in 2009. This project renovated 16,200 SF of the 2009 classroom addition and converted it to the building administration with a secure entrance. The existing gym was converted into a cafeteria. A new 70,000 SF addition was added to the renovated area and includes a two-story collaborative classroom wing, state-of-the-art media center, gymnasium, and art rooms.
Each classroom features overhead doors, allowing students the ability to collaborate inside, or in environments beyond the classroom itself. Group study rooms are shared between classrooms, providing the look and feel of more focused environments. The open-concept media center features large learning stairs that will serve multiple purposes: a collaborative learning space, demonstration space, and study space.
In the playground area, the outdated equipment was replaced with modern playground equipment. The entire exterior was complemented with adjoining sidewalks, decorative paving, and landscaping. Utility services to the existing building were protected, re-routed, and/or replaced during construction to maintain operation of the existing facility while preparing for operation of the new facility.
