PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Elford has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Abercrombie & Fitch. Our work has been across several brands including Abercrombie, Gilly Hicks, Hollister and Ruehl. These projects included unique interior and exterior finishes which required close coordination with the Architect and Owner. In addition to managing Elford’s work and subcontractors, Elford coordinated the work of the Owner’s specialty contractors and vendors. We also provided value engineering items which accelerated schedules and enabled early completion of projects, providing savings to the Owner. These projects required careful coordination of the delivery of construction materials with other tenants to minimize use of loading docks and elevators in operating malls.

This addition and renovation project reimagined McCracken Hall with a dynamic space layout and architectural expression, creating an attractive, flexible environment for formal and casual learning. The interior design creates a variety of classroom types and sizes along with plenty of faculty office and support space. Collaboration between students and faculty is supported through a series of smaller project rooms and varied gathering areas both large and small. Public spaces that bring architectural character are provided on every floor; double height communicating spaces are provided between pairs of floors to enhance the feeling of connectivity. A dedicated technology “black box” space is provided space for faculty use in developing new pedagogy.
