PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Greater Columbus Convention Center consists of two facilities totaling over 1.7 million SF. The North Facility, constructed in the early 1990s, has a linear floor plan with a main concourse that runs through the spine of the facility. Exhibit hall space lines the concourse on the east side and meeting rooms and ballrooms along the west side. The North Facility is connected to the new Hilton Columbus Downtown Hotel by the glass skybridge. The South Facility, originally constructed in the 1970s, consists of an underground parking garage, a food/retail court, meeting rooms and grand ballrooms. This facility is connected to the Hyatt Regency on the west side of the building.
The renovation of the facility will upgrade all concourses, meeting rooms and ballrooms located in the North and South facilities. Scope includes but is not limited to carpet, wall coverings, color, materials, lighting fixtures, ceiling tiles, furnishings and bathroom fixtures. The intent of the project is to refresh the convention center with a new look while also enhancing a client’s use and experience.
In addition to the complete renovation, the convention center will be expanded adding 36,000 SF of exhibit hall space, 10,000 SF of new meeting spaces and a grand two-story entrance at the corner of Goodale and High Street complete with a public art installation. A new skywalk connects the convention center with a new 800-space parking garage on Goodale Street.
