PROJECT DESCRIPTION

To address the demand for parking around the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority (FCCFA) Board conducted a site feasibility study resulting in the addition of a new garage on the east side of the Convention Center. The facility is intended to maximize the availability of parking on the site with minimal impact to traffic flow around the area. The precast garage has six levels with approximately 650 total parking spaces.

The parking facility incorporates a single helix design with 90-degree parking and two-way traffic in the two bays. Safety features include glazed stair towers, emergency phones on each level, and open stair and elevator lobbies. Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, storage, equipment, and elevator machine rooms are located on the ground level, which is below the main entry aligned with the first supported level. Located at the ceremonial front entry to the complex, the garage features a kinetic façade to welcome visitors entering from the adjacent elevated roadway interchange.
