Elford acted as the construction manager for the new build of a 43,202 SF full-service fitness center located in the Grandview Yard development. This three-story facility consists of an exposed floor plan with the second and third levels open to the lower levels. It encompasses strength training, free weights, cardio machines and personal training areas; a spinning studio, indoor swimming pool, indoor running/walking track, private women-only fitness area, a group exercise classroom and a big screen Cardio-area movie theater; other amenities include locker rooms with saunas, a tanning salon, childcare, a smoothie café, administrative offices and a retail area. Interior finishes used are wood athletic flooring, stained concrete, rubber flooring, glass staircase wrapping the elevator and poured in place running and sprint track. The building exterior includes glass curtain walls, cedar wood siding, metal siding and brick.

Elford acted as the general contractor on this renovation of the 26-year-old facility. New features include a state-of-the-art fitness facility with ADA access throughout. Renovations in the 50,000 SF, three-story building included substantial changes from the entrance lobby to the, cafe, childcare, laundry, spa services and exterior improvements such as the entry canopy. The fitness areas refurbished encompassed cardio, strength training, spinning, Pilates and racquetball
Additions were a two-story media wall and other high-end technology and equipment. A new elevator now provides accessibility to all levels of the club. All railings designs are now glass panels to provide maximum visibility across the club. Custom casework, lighting fixtures, specialty wall coverings, specialty floor treatments, natural stone and tile all highlight the facility’s upscale atmosphere.

A 4,890 SF renovation of the Endowment Lounge, Room 315, located in the Schottenstein Center. The project scope includes new high-end finishes composed of high grade cherry wood, Venetian granite millwork and luxury floor finishes. Demolition will occur in existing areas, followed by installation of new walls, floors, tile and new acoustical ceilings in the renovated area. Food service equipment and residential appliances are being installed to upgrade the room for the comfort of patrons. Plumbing, HVAC and electrical modifications are also being modified to fit the new plans. Multiple walls are covered with owner-provided permanent graphics and removable frame units.

Elford managed the new construction of a 2-story, 32,000 SF community center in the historic Italian Village neighborhood of downtown Columbus. The community center includes a resort-style workout facility, in-ground swimming pool, full-service restaurant, community meeting space, a leasing office and 10,000 SF of commercial office. The community center’s interior displays high-end finishes and exterior matching façade of the adjacent Jeffrey Park condominiums.
The community center is adjacent to the commercial and multifamily complexes.
Elford completed construction with no impact or interruptions to the tenants.
PROJECT DETAILS
Elford provided preconstruction and construction services as a Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) for the Goggin Ice Center Hockey Performance Enhancement Addition, a 3,550 SF varsity hockey facility. Renovations include the addition of a multi-zone weight training facility, a shooting room, and guest lounge on the southeast corner of the varsity hockey complex with the potential to include a partial second floor mezzanine over the shooting room and lounge. Also included in the project was the relocation of adjacent dry change lockers and locker room entry to enhance adjacencies and access between the addition and existing hockey facilities along with reworking finishes between spaces to create an integrated team complex at Ice Level.
